Here we are at the second stage of my Andalusian summer: Marbella! This small town on the Costa del Sol, is only 45 minutes drive from Malaga, so you just have to touch and go for anyone in the area.
Why have I chose this place? Well, to be honest, I was fascinated by the idea of a so fashionable and luxurious city placed in such a traditional region such as the Andalucía, but the thing that struck me about this Spanish gem, was its fairytale old town that is unexpectedly hidden behind the modern buildings of the new city.
Marbella boasts a promenade out of sight dotted with palms and residential buildings. Strolling on the promenade, you will be spoiled for choice of tapas bars, restaurants, pubs, ice cream shops and cafes located especially in the modern port area. Continuing on the seafront, then you will run slowly in luxurious hotel complexes until reaching the unexpected old port where you will notice several seasides that in the evening are transformed into spartan, but typical and tasty, restaurants on the beach!
As I told you, I was totally captured by the Marbella old town which can be reached penetrating the narrow streets behind the main street. In this tangle of alleys between white houses, colorful flowers, small shops and restaurants you will plunge into an almost surreal atmosphere where you can spend a pleasant evening with the traditional Andalusian cuisine.
During this stop, I have stayed in Puerto Banús, the temple of the Spanish chic nightlife.
It is a small seaside town, about 15 minutes from Marbella, perfect for those who looks for a comfortable and luxury holiday. The small port of Puerto Banús boasts stunning yachts, sports cars and boutiques of the most famous brands amid an typical holiday atmosphere ! In the evening you can choose a romantic (but often expensive) dinner on the sea, or a classical break in a pub (I recommend you Friday’s!) or in one of the many Oriental restaurants.
A dispassionate advice ? If you are looking for a less expensive vacation , you agree to stay in Marbella , a city that easily adapts to all the budgets , though, I recommend you also to make a jump in Puerto Banús to admire a (maybe) parallel reality but still worthy of a short visit !
