Sparkle, glam and 70’s. These are the three images in which our mind takes us when we look to a sequined dress or accessory in a shop window.
The sequins are rooted in the ancient Egypt where we find their first ancestors: small metal discs used to decorate clothes and accessories of the pharaoh. It ‘was then in 1700 Georg Friedrich Strass, to mark indelibly the history of jewelery and sequins. Thanks to his skill in making jewelry with fake and semi-precious stones, Strass contented the bourgeois women of the time who succeeded, as well, to show off jewels worthy of the aristocracy.
Back in vogue in the 20s of the last century to decorate the sparkling charleston dresses, in the 70s of the last century, then, the sequins finally break through in the fashion industry, reported in vogue by the rock style that made the sequins a real cult!
Mini-dresses, tops, over sweaters, clutch, boots and so on and so forth,waterfalls of sequined flood clothing, accessories and even interior complements!
Despite the inexorable becoming of the trends, sequins and spangles have remained steadfast in the pole position of our wish lists but often, however, we find some difficulties to match them in the right way.
Beams of light almost blinding, but so much glam, how to give up all this? Impossible !
So, here there are some ideas to wear sequins 🙂
–In the morning, opt for satin sequins in soft and nude colors like pink, powder pink or champagne. By choosing not reflective sequins, you can show off a plain but sophisticated look at the same time. So, get jiggy by mixing over sequined sweaters with jeans, short or midi leather skirts and amphibians or sneakers.
An idea for an unexpected contrast? Combine a sparkling mini dress with a basic and white t-shirt or blouse, the result will be extraordinarily wow!
-If, then, you can not give up the charm of sequins at the office, go for an outfit consisting of a blue or gray jacket and pants and combined with a gray top with (strictly) satin sequins. This way, you can soft the rigor of the professional look with a simple and elegant tone on tone outfit;
-At night falls, you can finally show off the true, shiny, and bright sequins from the dark and iridescent shades.
- For happy hour, you must be casual and choose a look by matching your sparkling knit a pair of jeans, leather jacket, shoes with block heel and handbag.
- If, however, you are invited to a party or a vernissage dare with a total black sequined top paired with a pair of palazzo pants or pencil skirt and a super maxi wrap coat.
This time I opted for a casual but super scintillating look thanks to this amazing MANGANO shirt that I matched a pair of Mary Jane retro flavor by WHAT FOR! What do you think about it ?
